Community Project – Local Hero Nomination 2022

Community Project – Local Hero Nomination 2022

Wow, what a year 2022 was… and the best part for me was this community project!! Local Hero nominations for 2022 were unreal, and we were blown away by the response! Thank you so much to all who emailed in… your support was excellent.

Why was this the best project? Because when you get to award hard-working, caring, generous people… their smile is the best reward you can get for doing your job. See, that’s what it’s all about for us at Art of Clean… Our followers and supporters are our heroes, so helping them to put a smile on their hero’s faces makes every day worthwhile!

What we did to start our community project – Local Hero Nomination 2022:

So, around June last year, yes early, we wanted to be prepared… okay, we were a little excited!! But we asked our amazing followers to nominate who they thought deserved to be local heroes and receive a little gift! Someone who goes above and beyond for their community and always smiles while doing it.

Our closing date was the 30th of November, 2022. We then picked 6 out of a hat to receive a small appreciation gift!

Here are our winners, who nominated them and why:

For the privacy of our followers, I will only put their first names!

Local Hero 2022 Nomination:

Val Fendley

Nominators Name:

Danielle

The reason for their nomination as local heroes in 2022:

I have seen on your Facebook page that you are on the search for a local hero!
Our local hero is Val Fendley. Val works for the Ramsey neighbourhood trust(RNT) and has spent many years building the community project alongside the Ramsey millions and RNT. Val is ALWAYS there as a friendly face whenever needed, no matter what.
She is known by many in Ramsey for all her hard work and dedication through working and voluntary hours she provides to the community.
Works/supports the youth clubs ranging from ages 5+, and I know my daughter absolutely loves her!
After moving to the area and not knowing anyone, Val made herself known to me and took me under her wing. Being a new mum in a brand new area and would often check in with us to make sure we were okay… and is always there to support us if needed and will guide us to the right agencies for support.
Recently she was made the deputy mayor, another role Val has taken on. She spent time in the local school for the jubilee and organised a street party for the whole of Ramsey alongside this role.
Val does all this for the community and cares full-time for her father, who is very unwell and helps manage a family business. How she does all this, I don’t know.
She deserves recognition for all her hard work, support and dedication to the town and local people alongside her family life!
Val Fendley is definitely our local hero!

Local Hero 2022 Nomination:

Stephen Buddle

Nominators Name:

Danielle

The reason for their nomination as local heroes in 2022:

This man is the chairperson of Ramsey Cricket Club, and he has recently won a grassroots award and just generally does an amazing job in keeping the community together 🙂 He well and truly deserves this prize as he not only works himself and has his own family, he treats everyone he comes in contact with like his own little family! He runs the pavilion alongside the cricket club and gives his all into everything!

We picked up all our gifts for the heroes and, over two days, delivered them to the very deserving nominations. For their gifts, we bought them all fruit boxes were appreciated, and just their smile was enough to know we had done good!!

A massive thank you to the Cambridge Fruit Company for boxing up these amazing boxes… it was lovely to do business with you as normal!!

We got to see their fabulous MASSIVE Christmas card, too. Isn’t it amazing…

I can’t wait to see what we choose to do next year… it ends the year on such a high, with all the smiles and thanks. It was the best day!
