 This was the case with a very special rug we recently had the pleasure of restoring a family heirloom for a lovely homeowner named Sandra: The amazing rug cleaning transformation.

The Story Behind the Rug

Sandra inherited her great-great-great Nana’s rug, a piece in her family for generations. This rug was passed down through the women in her family, had graced the floors of many homes before finally arriving at Sandra’s living room. Her great-great-great Nana had passed away many years before Sandra was born, but the rug served as a tangible connection to her family’s history—a piece of the past that linked generations together.

When Sandra’s Nana passed away a couple of years ago, her mum passed the rug down to her. It wasn’t just a rug; it was a legacy, a cherished family heirloom that held the stories of countless family gatherings, quiet moments, and memories of the loved ones who had walked upon it.

The Disaster

Earlier this year, disaster struck. A flood invaded Sandra’s home, leaving behind a trail of damage, and her precious rug didn’t escape unscathed. The water had soaked through the fibres, leaving stains, a musty odour, and a very distressed Sandra. The sentimental value of the rug was immeasurable, and the thought of losing it was devastating.
